Instrumental rock band set to wow crowd

Kings of Improg will be blasting onto the BenRock stage.

Kings of Improg (KOI), a progressive instrumental rock band hailing from the East Rand, more specifically Benoni and Brakpan will be bringing something different to the mix which is BenRock.

The band consists of Byron Muller on bass, Lloyd Mckeen and Chad Snell on guitars and Slade du Randt on the drums.

What started out as a couple of jam sessions in 2012 at Byron’s house in Benoni soon turned into the four-piece KOI act that’s been doing the rounds on the greater Johannesburg and Pretoria gigging circuit since early in 2014.

They have described themselves in the past as a progressive psychedelic instrumental blues rock jam band, but really that’s just a testament to the vast array of styles that come across in their instrumental offerings.

Their music crosses a wide range of influences and genres, with their primary focus on a guitar and bass driven progressive rock sound.

With their debut album due for release in May, KOI is set on taking the SA music scene by storm with their unique sound and powerful live performances.

With an ever-growing local hard rock and metal progressive scene, the band plans on expanding their audience by getting into the festival scene, and they have goals to play some of the major fests all around the country after their debut release.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for this East Rand ensemble who will be making waves in the coming year.

BenRock is set to take place in Germiston on May 6 at The Beer Co and Runway Beach Bar, situated in Dakota Crescent, near Rand Airport.
