The fundamentals of The Burning (a founder member band of BenRock) lie in the undeniable power and emotion of rock ’n roll.
The fire first ignited in the 1990s when seasoned guitarist and song writer Steve Kay made a choice to unleash some serious musical mayhem on the general public and share a big piece of the passion that has always been burning inside of him since he was a young man.
Although the line-up has changed over The Burning’s 20-year career, the passion to present an uncompromising set of songs and create a captivating stage show has always been in the forefront for the members.
Being influenced by some of the biggest rock icons on the planet, The Burning brings you a brutal delivery of classics, from the likes of AC/DC and Black Sabbath to Thin Lizzy and even some Mötorhead.
The current line up consists of seasoned musicians who are all accomplished in their own right, they are: Steve Kay on lead and rhythm guitar (ex-Ragnarok and Helter Skelter); Pete Brück on lead and rhythm guitar (ex-Flying Circus); Kyle Shoesmith on drums (ex-Hate Speech, Quamata and The Question); Derek Newman on bass guitar (ex-Metalmorphosis) and Scarthroat on vocals (ex-Sanctum, Chemically Sharpene and The Question).
The Burning has played many shows across Gauteng entertaining crowds and keeping the flame of rock ‘n’ roll alive for years.

BenRock is set to take place in Germiston on May 6 at The Beer Co and Runway Beach Bar, situated in Dakota Crescent, near Rand Airport.
