Jewish Rock group, 8th Day takes to stage at Gold Reef City

8th Day showcases their new album on February 21 at The Lyric.

Hit band 8th Day is due to rock Gold Reef City.

Co-founded by brothers Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus, 8th Day, is currently one of the most sought after music acts around. With their latest hit album, the group has now released six studio albums and has been the top sellers on the folk music, alternative rock and Jewish music charts.

Their hit music video for Ya’alili has had over three million views on YouTube.

They followed that up with more fan favourites, like All You Got, Hooleh and their latest hit video, Celebrate.

The band had their start in Southern California, where the Marcus brothers grew up in a very musical, orthodox Jewish home.

Their first shows were for small local community events and for friends and family.

As their music started to gain recognition, they paired up with well-known local musicians, like popular rock drummer Rosy Rosenquist, Grammy nominated bassist Philip Bynoe, and Klezmer aficionado Leo Chelyapov, and began touring in earnest in 2007.

8th Day’s fresh and unique sound is complimented by their poetic lyrics and spirited vocal harmonies.

What started as a fun family project has now become a global phenomenon, as their fan base continues to grow all over the world.

The trailblazing band has played hundreds of sold out concerts across the globe, with stops in Australia, Europe, Israel, Asia, South Africa, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and all over the United States.

“We pride ourselves on hosting some of the world’s most exciting entertainment acts,” said Gold Reef City marketing manager, Gareth Kaschula.

“Hosting 8th Day at Gold Reef City again demonstrates our commitment to bringing our guests the very best in world-class entertainment.”

The show is set to start at 7pm on February 21, at the Lyric Theatre.
