Dance for a Cure whirls its way to the Lyric Theatre

Dance extravaganza to help supply vaccines to the underprivileged.

A spectacular extravaganza of dance and song will wow audiences at the Lyric Theatre, at Gold Reef City, on September 30.

The show is being staged in celebration of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, to highlight the fact that there is now a life-saving vaccine bringing hope to young women all over the world.

The shows are presented by Dance for a Cure, a non-profit organisation which helps to supply vaccines to disadvantaged young people.

Since 2008 it has raised more than R2-million towards immunisation.

The show reflects on the past and narrates the Dance for a Cure story, entitled “Let the memories live on”, which reminds us to be mindful of where we have come from, in order to know where we are going.

It will be hosted by funny-man Jason Goliath and will open with Sibongile Mngoma’s golden voice.

Featured artists include multi-awarding winning ballerina Kristin Wilson, SA’s renowned KMAD, Strictly Come Dancing stars Jeanne Swart and Grant Esterhuizen.

Dance for a Cure will be wowing the audience at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on September 30.

Strength artists Amor and Gerhard will perform a dance style known as Adagio, a combination of the strength, balance and agility of gymnastics, blended with the beauty and fluidity of classical dance.

The evening brings a month-long campaign to an end called #Smear4smearSA to an end.

This project encourages women to have their pap smears, smear their lipstick and take a selfie and make a donation towards a pap smear or vaccine for an underprivileged woman and to nominate somebody else to do the same.

This spectacular performance of song and dance will be followed by champagne and dessert, sponsored by catering company By Word of Mouth.

Audience members will be able to show off their stylish support with the photo booths and “Glam Stands” that will also be available on the night.

The show starts at 8pm.
