Enjoy a trip down memory lane

Relax and enjoy nostalgic hits at the 80s Rewind Festival.

The countdown has begun for the world’s biggest ’80’s music festival’s return to South Africa.

On January 31, nine original acts – straight out of the 1980s – will perform live in the enthralling, outdoor Rewind Festival, at Carnival City.

Among the legendary artists performing in the show are Nick Kershaw (Wouldn’t it be Good); Go West (King of Wishful Thinking); Heather Small from M People (Moving on Up); Cutting Crew (I just Died in your Arms Tonight); Katrina, ex-Katrina and the Waves (Walking on Sunshine); Wang Chung (Everybody have Fun Tonight) and Billy Ocean (Caribbean Queen).

A few top South African bands that gained fame in the ’80s are also in the mix.

They include Cinema (My Kind of Girl) and Face to Face (Here we are).

Between these artists, they have produced massive chart-toppers, sold over a 100 million records worldwide, achieved gold and platinum status and won numerous music awards.

“This is the biggest ’80s music festival in the world, combining some of the best local and international bands from the 1908s in one electrifying show,” said Michelle Smith, the newly-appointed marketing manager at Carnival City.

The show starts at 4pm, but revelers are invited to arrive early to secure a good spot on the Festival Lawns, where they can while away the afternoon and evening in a laid-back, el-fresco setting.

Food and beverages will be on sale.
