Germiston Simmer Rugby Club secures four wins

All Germiston Simmer teams played good games proving their determination to collect silverware this season

Germiston Simmer Rugby Club enjoyed a memorable day of victories, with their first team delivering an impressive 56-7 win over Union Knights.

Under the leadership of captain Bertie Erasmus, Simmer solidified their position in second place on the log.

Player of the match DJ Malatji shone with exceptional form, scoring two tries and demonstrating powerful runs and steadfast defence as the loosehead prop.

Club captain Clayton Gindan excelled at inside centre, benefiting from precise distribution by Erasmus at flyhalf.
Ruan Botha, the team’s reliable kicker, contributed a perfect eight out of eight conversions, further asserting the team’s dominance.

Additional tries were scored by VK Ntimane, B Els, T Maduna, N Molefe, and M Stallenburg.

The success extended to the second team, which, captained by veteran JJ Visagie, secured a 24-0 win.

Tries were scored by B Fivaz, L Theunnissen, T Bekker, and A Pool, with Theunnissen and Pool also adding conversions.

The second team’s defence was particularly noteworthy, maintaining a clean sheet against Union Knights.

The U21 team also delivered a standout performance, defeating Union 22-0.

Captain Dylan Botha, named man of the match for his role at fullback, led the team with excellent teamwork and defence.

Try scorers included W Maubane and K Matabele, with Botha contributing two conversions and a penalty kick.

The U19 team, led by Jaydin Janse van Rensburg, concluded the day with a narrow 19-17 victory.

L Sonya scored twice, supported by tries from Ponto and H Motale, who added two conversions to help secure the win.

The Simmer coaching staff praised the teams’ performances, acknowledging areas for improvement while expressing overall satisfaction.

As they prepare for upcoming matches against Eldos/Alex/Inner City on August 17 and Harlequins at home on August 24, Ryan Dennis, Chairman of Simmer, invites Germiston residents to support their local team.
