Local football club seeks new team members
JVW FC has expanded its development portfolio by introducing the U7 and U10 teams for players aged five to 11.
Young girls who aspire to play football are invited to join JVW FC’s new U7 and U10 teams.
The club recently expanded its development portfolio when it introduced the U7 and U10 teams for players between the ages of five and 11.
Co-founder of the club, Janine van Wyk, said, as a club, they felt it was the right time to provide a platform for young players to join their development programme as they continue striving to improve and uplift the women’s game.
She said football has since become popular among young girls as it has grown tremendously globally.
“First, we must make the players fall in love with the game.
“If they start their football journey captivated by the experience, this vastly improves their chances of getting better.
“Our job at JVW is to create that experience,” explained Van Wyk.
She said they aim to provide an enjoyable introduction to football in an environment that allows young players lots of touches, shots, dribbles, and, ultimately, more involvement, making new friends and learning the game.
On the overall growth and development of girls’ football within the JVW community, she said, “Introducing younger players to the club allows us to prepare, develop and groom players for the future and benefit of the club.
“There is a clear philosophy, vision and pathway for these young individuals to work towards, which will give us the upper hand compared to many other female football clubs in our country.”
Joining the club is an opportunity for players to grow and boost their confidence, creativity and character.
“It is important that we create an environment for the individuals to be themselves and find their identity,” she said.
Each age group will have its own training programme.
Van Wyk said JVW FC focuses on values and character development.
“We use football as a tool to promote values such as teamwork, discipline, resilience and respect.
“The main objective is to create a well-rounded player,” she stated.
At JVW, they believe sport has the power to unite and bring people together no matter their culture, race, religion or background.
“Part of the JVW code of conduct is we do not tolerate any discrimination.
“Everyone at JVW has the right to play football with confidence and without prejudice, regardless of personal characteristics.”
