Burning Stars crowned league champions

Ncube is looking forward to hosting an u11 tournament to commemorate his birthday on March 3rd.

Burning Stars recently won the league title for the U11 division of the Germiston Local Football Association (GLFA).

In their final game, the Primrose/Makause informal settlement club defeated France Queen 3-0 to steal the championship.

According to Philani Ncube, they had equal points with France Queen going into the last match with only goal difference.

“We accumulated 32 points and walked away with a new jersey, training kit, balls and medals and a trophy. It was a moment to cherish when we received our trophy at the Germiston stadium,” said Ncube.

“Our U13 team finished sixth with 42 points. This year we are going to promote our U11 team to play in the U13 division.

“The idea is to have the U11, U13, and U15 teams and the seniors all competing in the GLFA leagues. The seniors need more attention this year and need new kit and transport. They also need R2 000 to affiliate to the league.

“Many thanks to Silvasons Hardware for their support throughout last year. They have provided us with transport.”

“This will allow teams to evaluate the fitness of their players just before the GFLA league opens for the 2024 season.

“This year we are also adding netball to expand our portfolio. Anyone who can donate may contact us,” said Ncube.

Mluleki Msiza said their captain was overjoyed to lift the trophy.

“He ran around the sports ground carrying the cup. We sang songs on our way back home,” said Msiza.
