Rowing coach gives back to Germiston High

He has done the sport for the past eight years and says he does not regret ever starting his journey in rowing.

Former Germiston High School learner Lwazi Zwane said Germiston made him the man he is today.

Now a rowing coach at the school, he said he is humbled and happy to be able to give back to the school that offered him amazing opportunities through rowing.

“When I came to the school in 2016, I knew nothing about rowing. My curiosity got me involved in the sport. I wanted to see what rowing was about, and I just fell in love and was hooked,” said Lwazi.

He has done the sport for the past eight years and says he does not regret ever starting his journey in rowing.

“I started rowing for the high school and went on to row for the University of Johannesburg rowing club.

“I even had the opportunity of coaching in several rowing schools and clubs. The sport even allowed me the opportunity to travel,” said Lwazi

He said the sport requires discipline and commitment.

He hopes his coaching inspires Germiston High rowers to new highs.

“The young rowers inspire me to keep coaching and share my knowledge. It is not every day you find a group of learners who are goal-driven and hardworking.
