Young Lambton angler honoured for impressive record

Richards took part in the National SAFBAF Tour from October 3 to 5 at Bloemhof Dam.

Lambton resident Sylvie Richards was honoured at the South African Freshwater Bank Angling Federation’s (SAFBAF) Ladies Tour’s prizegiving as a valuable member of the U19 women’s national team.

As part of the Young Dames team, Richards took part in the National SAFBAF Tour from October 3 to 5 at Bloemhof Dam.

Following two practice days where the team tested the waters, Young Dames faced off against the country’s top women anglers for three days of intense competition.

On day one, Young Dames was nine points behind followed by being four points behind on day two.

Finally, the team settled the scores on day three with a lead of nine points.

Richards ranked ninth for the National SAFBAF Tour 2022, netted a total of 55 fish with a total weight of 48.4Kg, cumulating 24 points as an angler.

She celebrated the victory of the Young Dames at this event.

“As an ambassador of the sports I like setting impressive records and receiving accolades,” said Richards.

In 2021, during the 9th SAFBAF Festival, Richards netted a grascarp weighing 6.450 kilograms, setting a national record.
