Local baseball team beaten by rivals

The Rams now head into the next knock-out round where they will face Red Sox.

Kempton Park baseball side Red Sox Rams faced the Titans from Edenvale on Sunday for the first round of the senior reserve cup knock-out games.

The game was played in Kempton Park and saw the Edenvale side take up the bat first.

Titans took an early lead with five runs at the top of the first frame.

Titans batsman, Ken Tsai hit the ball.

Leon Viljoen smashed a massive home run to bring in two of the five runs scored.

In response, the Rams ticked over three runs.

In the second frame, Titans were only able to bring home one runner.

After two quick outs, Red Sox Rams staged their comeback to bring four runners home and take a one-run lead over Titans.

At the top of the third frame, the Kempton Park side played a tight game to prevent Titans from scoring any runs.

Building on their defence the Red Sox Rams secured two runs to extend their lead to three runs.

Three runs were scored by the Titans during their fourth batting frame and not to be outdone, Sox brought two runners home to keep their lead.

In the fifth frame, Titans scored two more runs to level out with Sox Rams but when the Rams took up the bat they once again brought back their lead with one runner home.

At the top of the sixth frame, Titans scored one run before sending the home side in to bat.

The Sox Rams raked up six runs against the Titans at the bottom of the sixth before sending the Titans in for one last chance at the bat.

The game was called when the Titans failed to score any runs at the top of the seventh frame.

The final score for the game was 18 -12 in favour of the Sox Rams.

The Rams now head into the next knock-out round where they will face Red Sox.

The game will be played on August 27 at the Kempton Park Red Sox diamond.
