Pink will be the colour of choice on National Women’s Day, August 9, when thousands of runners and walkers will take to the streets of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban for the much-anticipated Totalsports Women’s Race in support of PinkDrive.

“PinkDrive fulfils a vitally important need in South Africa, and we are proud to continue our support through the Totalsports Women’s Race,” said Nikki Crous, the head of marketing at Totalsports.
“We are proud to help share PinkDrive’s message that ‘early detection can help prolong a life’. Runners and walkers can also get involved by donating to the cause when entering the event online. No amount is too small.
“In addition, we’d like to encourage all entrants to wear their pink event tees on the day. Let’s make it a pink Women’s Day to remember.”
PinkDrive is an NPC committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education and providing free services to the medically uninsured across South Africa.

According to PinkDrive’s national marketing and event coordinator Nelius du Preez, the fact that the event is hosted in three cities shows unity and that Totalsports and PinkDrive stand together for the health and support of women.
“Through this fantastic fundraising opportunity and platform, PinkDrive can ensure our service continues benefitting communities across South Africa.
“The partnership allows us to spread the message that ‘early detection will help to prolong life’,” she said.
Du Preez said PinkDrive would offer free clinical breast examinations in their mobile Breast Health Unit and teach about the importance of breast self-examinations at the events
