Local swimmers take part in championships in KZN

The three swam in 24 events, made it through to 19 finals and swam a total of 22 personal best times.

Dragons swimmers, Hannah Rigby (15), Zuria Venter (12) and Cassidy Sinclair (15), qualified to compete at the South African National Junior Championships at Kings Park Swimming Pool in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The three swam in 24 events, made it through to 19 finals and swam a total of 22 personal best times.

Venter won three bronze medals in the 12-year-old age group for the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.

“It was a gruelling week of highly competitive swimming.

“The top junior swimmers from across the country took part in these championships and I couldn’t be happier or prouder of the performance from our girls,” said head coach Theo Verster.

“They worked extremely hard to qualify for this and I only see great things coming from them in the future.”
