Germiston boxer ready to rumble

The young boxer is still an amateur boxer but has shown boxing prowess in his previous fights.

Keanu Koopman (23) is following in his father’s footsteps in the boxing ring.

The young boxer is still an amateur boxer but has shown boxing prowess in his previous fights.

The Primrose resident started boxing at the age of 13, in 2013, and has never looked back.

“My father got me into boxing and seeing my brothers excel in the sport motivated me. I grew up watching both of them in the sport,” said Keanu.

He is a member of the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale but also trains with his father and brother, Shrevontaigh, who is a junior middleweight boxer.

Even though he is an amateur boxer, Keanu received a gold medal at the 2021 National Championships.

“I’m still new in the professional boxing scene but I will be making headlines soon. I believe the passion and the hard work I put into boxing will pay off.”

“My passion for boxing is what keeps me going and seeing what my brother has achieved thus far in the sport motivates and inspires me to excel.”

The rising star will be fighting at Emperors Palace on March 18.
