Runners welcome opening of Rietvlei trails

The trails will be opened from 6am to 6pm under strict procedures and rules.

It was just a question of time and Rietvlei trail running and mountain bike trails (MTB) are back at full force.
Rietvlei returned to open its doors under the new level three regulations and it didn’t take the athletes days to come out and test their fitness levels at the popular venue.

The same Rietvlei Zoo farm also sent a welcome message via various platforms to their regular runners and cyclers.
The trails will be opened from 6am to 6pm under strict procedures and rules.
Rietvlei Zoo Farm is situated at Swartkoppies Road, almost between Alberton and the Southern Suburbs.

Back in full force will be mountain biking, hiking, walking, running, and cross-country activities.
Exercise will be allowed, but no organised groups will be allowed. All athletes should wear masks or buffs at all times.
Unfortunately, the popular Rietvlei Parkrun will not be open for June.
Runners may purchase a Rietvlei trail access card that can be used to enter the Rietvlei trails on Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

All have to register and sign the indemnity forms.
All Covid-19 health and safety protocols must be followed at all times, including observance of guidelines for social distancing, sanitation and hygiene, and use of cloth masks or buffs.

Rietvlei Trails has decided to offer a winter special for the months of June, July and August.
Please Note: Rietvlei Trails are open, but the picnic park remains closed.

The picnic park is considered a recreation and leisure area, and is therefore closed until level one.
