Athletics club’s team spirit remains high amid Covid-19 outbreak

Victoria Lake Athletics Club members continue to train on their own as they face the threat of Covid-19.

Despite the setbacks brought on by Covid-19 the team spirit remains high among the athletes of Victoria Lake Athletics Club.

“Covid-19 has seriously impacted our activities,” said Simon Treston on behalf of the club.

“There are no registered events open and the Victoria Lake Parkrun has also stopped.

“On top of that the park surrounding Germiston Lake, our training area has been closed too.”

To comply with the precautionary measures set out by government the club’s members mostly run on their own.

“We do, however, have the occasional social run where we comply with precautionary measures such as hand washing and maintaining a distance of 2m between runners,” said Treston.

“Some members have elected not to run with the group though.”
