More medals for the Raptors

Several wrestlers from the Raptors Wrestling Club competed in the recent Eastern Gauteng Open Championships at Carnival City.

The Eastern Gauteng Open Championships were recently held at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena.

The prestigious event saw over 600 competitors from across South Africa competing for top honours.

Among these competitors were several young wrestlers from the Raptors Wrestling Club.

“Our young wrestlers really stood their ground and brought back a number of medals,” said head coach Dewald de Wet (Snr).

Their results were:

• Shannon Jansen van Rensburg won a gold medal in the u-15 division.

• Tiaan Jansen van Rensburg won a gold medal in the u-7 division.

• Anton Strydom won a gold medal in the u-8 division.

• Nathan van Niekerk won a gold medal in the u-8 division.

• Kieron Visser won a gold medal in the u-8 division.

• Juan Vorster won a gold medal in the u-8 division.

• Dewald De Wet (Jnr) won a gold medal in the u-13 division and a gold medal in u-17 Greco Roman division.

• Ada Smith won a gold medal in the u-13 division and placed fourth in the u-17 Greco Roman division.

• Daniella De Wet won a bronze medal in the u-15 division and a gold medal in u-13 freestyle division.

• Charne Herman won a silver medal in the u-11 division.

• Jason Russel won a silver medal in the u-13 division.

• Caleb Botha won a bronze medal in the u-8 division.

• Ciara Deale placed fourth in the u-15 division.
