The Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League Cup finals were held at Corinthians Football Club, last Saturday.
Luso Africa FC’s first and reserve teams were thrilled to have made it to the finals and faced Olympia Football Club and Benoni Northerns Football Club in their respective matches.

In the first team’s tightly contested clash Olympia started the match on the front foot, taking several shots at goal throughout the first half.
However, the heroics of Luso goalkeeper Daniel Igenegbale kept the score level at 0-0 to the half-time break.
After a stern talk from head coach Marco De Graca, Luso took to the field with new enthusiasm.
Ten minutes into the second half the team’s new found zest was put to the test when Olympia was awarded a penalty kick which they took and scored.
Luso was able to equalise soon after with a goal from Igor Ivanov.
With the match drawn at 1-1 at full-time the game went into 30 minutes of extra time.
Both teams dug deep, but it was Luso’s Thabang Tau who found the back of the Olympia net to secure the team the win and trophy.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of Luso.

The reserve team’s fast paced encounter started with an early goal from Northerns.
Northerns maintained their lead as they headed into the second half of the game.
However, their lead was a thing of the past in the second half after an equalising goal from Luso’s Balin Benissan.
This was followed by a well taken goal from Luso’s left wing James Mavimbela.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of Luso.
The club were thrilled with yet another ELFA Super League Cup title win.
