Hazeldene angler honoured at recent prize-giving ceremony.

Angling is her passion and young Sylvie Richards (13) from Hazeldene is improving each and every day.

At the recent Central North West Province Angling prize-giving Sylvie made everyone proud once again with her achievements over the past year.

Sylvie has claimed several medals for her performances at provincial level and was awarded the following prizes, among others at the event:

• Attendance certificate for the 2018 SA Championships in the young ladies division.

• Award for making the National South African Fresh Water Bank Angling Federation (SAFBAF) team 2019 in the young ladies division.

• The overall champion victrix ludorum for target and distance casting in the young ladies division.

The youngster has worked hard to prepare for upcoming competitions, including the All Transvaal competition which took place on Saturday at the Vaal, the SAFBAF National Junior u-13 Tour 2019 taking place in September and the annual South African Championships in December.

“As angling is a non-spectator sport and a sport with low media coverage, the anglers are responsible for the full cost of the championships they compete in, as well as all related expenses,” said Georgia, Sylvie’s mother.

The family is appealing to potential sponsors (community members and businesses) to support Sylvie in the form of sponsorship or donations which will assist with the angling costs for her upcoming SAFBAF National Junior u-13 Tour 2019 and the South African Championships.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.
