Germiston City celebrates as two players head to championships

Two local players make the Gauteng squad to participate in the 2019 Safa/SAB u-21 League National Championships.

The South African Football Association (Safa) Gauteng announced the final squad to represent the Gauteng province in the North West in the 2019 Safa/SAB u-21 League National Championships on Saturday.

D’Angelo Kazeem and Mqhele ‘General’ Nkosi from Germiston City Football Club’s u-21 team were among the pick of talented players who celebrated over the weekend after making the team.

D’Angelo Kazeem of Germiston City Football Club was chosen along with his teammate, Mqhele ‘General’ Nkosi, to join the final team to represent the Gauteng Province in the North West in the 2019 Safa/SAB u-21 League National Championships.

The players were chosen following intense trials held in Gauteng, which attracted players from across the province.

The young men are currently at a training camp preparing for the tournament.

Germiston City’s u-21 coach Tony Soane told the GCN he is proud of the players and wish them the best in the tournament.

“Kaseem is a very good young player.

“What I love about him is his versatility. He has good pace and can sprint up and down the pitch, especially when you place him as left back,” said Soane.

“Nkosi, our general, is a very skillful player who eliminates his opponent in every one-on-one challenge.

“He has unique techniques and is not shy to display them on the pitch.

“Both players are a fantastic addition to the Gauteng squad and I have no doubt that they will make us proud.”
