Elsburg clinch win in away match

Elsburg Rugby Club travelled to Heidelberg to face Heidelberg Rugby Club in the Kestrel League last Saturday.

Elsburg Rugby Club met Heidelberg Rugby Club for the second time this season in the Kestrel League last Saturday.

The tough, physical match was played in Heidelberg on a hard, dry field.

The home team was the first to get some points on the scoreboard when they conceded a penalty against the visiting team.

Elsburg Rugby Club travelled to Heidelberg for their Kestrel League match against Heidelberg Rugby Club last Saturday. During the match, Elsburg’s Morné Badenhorst made a spectacular tackle.

Elsburg’s Marinus van Vuuren scored the team’s first try of the match, which was followed by a successful conversion by Rudi Wessels.

Before the half-time whistle had sounded, Heidelberg had conceded another penalty, while Elsburg had scored another try, this time by Riaan van der Westhuizen, and a conversion.

The teams headed into the break with Elsburg ahead by eight points with a score of 14-6.

Throughout the second half, the teams competed for possession of the ball.

Heidelberg added three points to their tally with a penalty, with Elsburg conceding a penalty of their own soon after.

Nearing the end of the match the home team scored their first, and only, try of the match, but their conversion was unsuccessful.

This helped seal the victory for Elsburg, who seem unstoppable in the Kestrel League.

The full-time score was 17-14 to Elsburg.

Man of the match was awarded to Willem van der Heever (backline) and van der Westhuizen (forward).
