Crowning the best athletics school

Twizza Super School Series in search of the best track and field school in the country.

Entries are open for the inaugural Twizza Super School Series that will take place on September 19 at the Bestmed Tuks Athletics Stadium.

This event will serve as the regional qualifiers for athletes living in the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West, while those from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape will meet on October 5 at Green Point Athletics Stadium for their regional qualifiers.

The grand finale will be held at the Bestmed Tuks Athletics Stadium on February 1.

The Twizza Super School Series has one clear goal in mind, to crown SA’s best athletics school.

There can be only one winner.

This school will take home the biggest trophy in SA school sport and bragging rights for one year.

“We are excited to open entries for the much-anticipated Twizza Super School Series,” said Ajee Valentine, Twizza national sponsorship manager.

“With the goal of crowning South Africa’s best athletics school, the Twizza Super School Series is guaranteed to be fast-paced and action-packed.

“SA’s future track and field stars will have their moment to face healthy competition, while representing their schools at a premium track and field meeting.

“In addition to exciting track and field action at the grand finale, selected performing arts groups from the Top 40 qualifying schools will also #TasteTheMoment when they perform live.

“The groups and schools will be rewarded with exciting prizes compliments of Twizza.

“We cannot wait to make memories with the schools, learners and parents.”

Entry requirements:

Each school will be required to enter a team of 15 athletes across two age groups u-16 and u-19.

Categories will include:

Girls competition, boys competition and mixed competition.

Each team need to account for the following:

• A team consists of 15 athletes.

• Each athlete can participate in a maximum of two individual events.

• No more than two athletes per event in an age group.

• There must be at least five athletes per age group.

• Two entries into the sprint event.

• Two entries into the middle-distance event.

• Two entries into a jump event.

• One entry into a throw event.

• One entry into a hurdles event.

• One team coach.

• One team manager.

Entry for competing schools is free of charge.

All schools are invited to enter the regional qualifiers.

A points system will identify the Top 40 schools.

The Top 40 schools will go through to the grand finale.

Team managers can download the entry form from www.superschoolseries.com and send the completed entry form to info@superschoolseries.com.

Events that can be entered will include 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 500m, short hurdles, long hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin for the age groups 16 to 19.
