Elsburg continue to win in the Kestrel League

The Elsburg Rugby Club travelled to Edenvale for their Kestrel League fixture against Edenvale Rugby Club.

Elsburg Rugby Club continued to dominate in the second round of the Kestrel League when they travelled to Edenvale last Saturday to face Edenvale Rugby Club.

“The teams knew it would be a tough and physical match as this was the second time they have faced each other this season,” said Jolandie Konig, on behalf of the club.

Marinus van Vuuren was the first to inch across the try line for the visiting team, minutes after the match kicked off, adding five points to the scoreboard.

This was followed by a successful conversion by Rudie Wessels.

Elsburg Rugby Club travelled to Edenvale to tackle Edenvale Rugby Club in the Kestrel League last Saturday. During the match, Basjan Du Preez and Emile Etsebeth tackled two Edenvale players before they reached the try line.

Edenvale soon replied with a try of their own, but were unable to secure the conversion.

Elsburg added to their two-point lead with another try, from Danie du Preez, before the half-time whistle.

This gave them a seven-point lead heading into the break.

Minutes into the second half Elsburg’s Pieter Hanekom added another five points to the scoreboard with a successful try.

The home team soon scored a try of their own, their second of the match, but were once again unable to score a successful conversion.

Van Vuuren earned his second try of the match with Wessels adding another two points to the scoreboard with a successful conversion.

Edenvale scored another try and a conversion, but this was not enough to push them back into contention as Elsburg’s Basjan du Preez scored another try for the club and Wessels another conversion.

This secured another win against Edenvale Rugby Club for the Elsburg Rugby Club.

The full time score was 31-17 in favour of Elsburg.

The team now look forward to their second round Kestrel League fixture against Delmas Rugby Club this Saturday at the Elsburg Sports Complex.
