Youngsters showcase their rugby talent in finals

Laerskool Die President is proud of the u-11 rugby team.

It has been rugby fever at Laerskool Die President with the u-11 rugby team making it all the way to the finals in their age group in the Golden Lions Schools League.

The boys excelled this season, tackling their way to the semi-finals against Laerskool Millennium Primary on May 28.

The game was played at the Florida High School sports grounds.

The team sailed through the match, booking their spot in the finals, which took place on Wednesday at the same venue.

They faced a tough Laerskool Modderfontein team and although they played their hearts out, they did not emerge victorious.

Their coach, Ruan Nel, who has trained the boys since they were in Grade One, along with the rest of the school and the boys’ parents are incredibly proud of their achievement.

Last year the team only made it to the quarter-finals of the league, so this year’s achievement showcases how much they continue to improve as rugby players and as a team.
