Germiston City Cricket Club excited for new chapter

Germiston City Cricket Club (GCCC), in partnership with Thusong Youth Network aims to spark a love of cricket in the city’s youth.

Germiston City Cricket Club (GCCC), in partnership with Thusong Youth Network (NPO), will launch an exciting new chapter this year.

“The Germiston City Cricket Club-Junior Cricket Development Agency (GCCC-JCDA), the brainchild of Thusong Youth Network, will be launched this year,” said David Ungerer, chairperson of GCCC.

“The main aim of the development agency is to generate interest and passion for cricket in children, in the hope that they will be able to participate in competitive environments later in life.

“GCCC-JCDA is currently working towards affiliation with Easterns Cricket.”

On top of instilling a love of cricket the programme offers children a safe environment to spend their time, throughout the year.

“GCCC-JCDA is driven by a passion for child empowerment and sports development,” said Kudakwashe Dzapasi, founder and CEO of Thusong Youth Network.

“Our mission is to use sport as a developmental tool to fight child abuse and substance abuse through the provision of alternative opportunities to the underprivileged and marginalised children within our communities.

“In addition, relationships have been fostered with a number of schools and orphanages, to work collaboratively towards implementing the programme.

“Above all, as GCCC-JCDA, we value the local communities we work in, as our quest is to bring about meaningful social impact to our children.”
