Athletics in for good times

Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife title sponsors for senior championships.

Senior athletes in South Africa will have something to smile about after the announcement that title sponsors have been secured, for three years.

Athletics South Africa (ASA) has confirmed that Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife have now come aboard as the title sponsors for the ASA Senior Track and Field and Combined Events Championships.

They are already sponsoring the licensing numbers of all events in the country.

The senior championship will take place at Germiston Stadium from April 25 to 27.

“We are proud to welcome Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife as title sponsors of these championships,” said Aleck Skhosana, president of ASA.

“With the standard of South African athletics having made tremendous international strides over the last few years, there is an ever growing hunger by fans to witness South Africa’s best athletes competing on home soil.

“The Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife Senior Track and Field and Combined Events Championships are the country’s premier track and field competition in athletics.

“With Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife’s support we look forward to building on this legacy.

“The championships will be explosive, entertaining and of the expected highest standard.

“Supporters can look forward to seeing SA’s elite compete for national colours,” Skhosana said.

Group marketing executive of Sizwe Medical Fund Vuyiswa Majova said: “Sizwe Medical Fund is proud and humbled by the association with ASA.

“At Sizwe Medical Fund, we believe and continually strive to ensure that South Africans remain healthy.

“We are of the view that this association with ASA enables us to achieve exactly this goal.

“Likewise, as 3Sixty Life, we are really excited to partner with ASA, the powerhouse of Athletics in Africa and the world.

“We take pride in getting close to, and working with, some of the talent that the sport has produced in the likes of Wayde, Caster and Akani, to name just a few,” said Majova

The championships will see the cream of the crop in athletics such as multiple 800m Olympic and World Champion Caster Semenya, Olympic and 100m World Championship finalist; Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Akani Simbine; men’s long jump sensations, Ruswahl Samaai and Luvo Manyonga; as well as world record holder in the men’s 400m Olympic and World Champion, Wayde van Niekerk competing for top honours.

ASA announced earlier this year that the Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife ASA Senior Track and Field and Combined Events Championships would be compulsory for all athletes who would like to be selected in any ASA team for international championships.
