Germiston defeat Linhill Celtic 4-2

Germiston City Football Club continues their pre-season preparation at Olympia Football Club’s friendly pre-season tournament.

In the second leg of the Olympia Football Club friendly pre-season tournament, this Saturday, Germiston City Football Club faced a strong Linhill Celtic Football Club, who were fresh from a victory.

Despite this, Germiston started the match well and created a few chances at goal.

However, it was Linhill who drew the first blood with a well-timed kick at goal that split the Germiston defence and beat the keeper.

Germiston soon responded and drew level, only three minutes after Linhill’s opening goal, with a goal by Thabang Mohaeka.

The teams went into half-time 1-1.

In the second half, Germiston continued their attack and came close to the net on a couple of occasions.

But once again it was Linhill who took the initiative, after some sloppy defending by Germiston, and scored another goal taking them to a 2-1 lead.

Germiston’s coach Sreten Pavlovic decided then it was time to make some necessary changes, which included substitute Anthony Uzochukwu, who soon levelled the score.

The club continued to put the pressure on a tiring Linhill side and was soon rewarded with a goal from Rufai Tunde.

Germiston wrapped the match up with a goal from Sinethemba Manqele, giving them a 4-2 victory.
