Eagles soar in weekend games

Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club aims to soar as cricket champs in the Sunday Promotion League and Sunday Directors League as both leagues draw to an end.

With only a handful of games left for the season, the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club kept their hopes alive as prospective league winners in the Sunday Promotion League.

Still fighting hard to remain at the top of the Promotion League, the Eagles played an away game on Sunday where they faced the Midrand Cricket Club.

The Eagles took to the crease to bat first and expressed their intentions to leave as match winners on the day.

Their determination to win allowed them to set a target of 202 runs for nine wickets in their 50 overs.

Renier Wiesenar with 66 runs and Phillip Crouse with 45 runs were the top batsmen for the Eagles.

Royan Jacobs, of the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club, set to sprint down the crease and complete a run to add to his team’s lead against Alberton Cricket Club, in the Sunday Directors League played on Sunday at the main oval at the Elspark Sports Complex.
