Sylvie nets 32 fish at SA’s

Hazeldene’s angling sensation Sylvie Richards has been fishing up a storm.

The much anticipated SA Angling Championships 2018 arrived in December, last year, and Hazeldene youngster Sylvie Richards was excited to tackle the competition.

The week-long angling marathon took place at Bloemhof Dam.

During the two days of practice prior to the SA’s, Sylvie improved on her personal best by catching her first giant barbel.

During her two days of practice before the start of the SA Angling Championships at Bloemhof Dam at the end of last year, Sylvie Richards improved on her personal best by catching her first giant barbell.

On day one of the championships, she again improved on her personal best by catching an awesome 34 fish.

Having qualified for the National Trials, Sylvie won her zone on the consecutive days of the event held on December 21 and 22, securing her place in the SAFBAF (South African Freshwater Bank Angling Federation) u-13 young girls’ team for 2019.

She thanks all members of the community who supported her fund-raising efforts which helped get her to the SA’s and wishes them the best for the year.

Preparations are now in full swing for the SAFBAF Fest, which is set to take place on January 12 and 13 at the Vaal Dam.
