Karatekas awarded for their stellar performance

Karatekas at Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy displayed a different style of footwork when they left their kata skills at home and brought dancing skills to the dance floor at their prize-giving recently.

Following an esteemed year in martial arts, Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy ended the year off with a bang.

The dojo, which returned home with gold medals in a number of prestigious tournaments this year and even waved goodbye to two of its members who jetted off to the US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in the USA in June last year, held a memorable prize-giving evening for its students.

The prize-giving also served as the end of the year dinner and was just the blast everyone needed before the holidays.

Demequin Kuhn and Tyron Stevens were tied in the top spot for the Iron Man Junior Boy Award.

“We danced, we had dinner and this was all to show appreciation for the students,” said kanchu Alex Tebbutt.

“It was a lovely way to unwind after a successful year.”

On the night, two special awards were handed out.

Sensei Tiffany Knoop received an award for being a hard-working student and sensei Ismail Pandor was the recipient of the 10 Years in Service Award.
