Luso kicks back into action in last minutes

Luso Africa Football Club and Alberton Football Club engage in competitive Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League fixture.

Luso Africa Football Club’s winning streak came to a halt in their latest Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League clash.

The first team faced Alberton Football Club in a gripping match at Hattingh Park last Saturday.

The competitive match saw Leandro de Abreu set Luso up for success with an early goal.

However, the early goal did not inspire a faster-paced game for Luso who missed a number of scoring opportunities.

Unable to further stretch their lead, Luso lapsed in concentration and conceded a goal from Alberton right before half-time.

Though both teams tried a number of tactics to claim the leading position, they went into half-time 1-1.

The second half detailed the same efforts as the last minutes of the first half for Luso.

Alberton took full advantage of their opponents scattered defence scoring two goals well into the second half.

Liam Jordaan, who had a good game, scored the second goal bringing Luso back into the game.

The teams on the pitch and spectators on the grandstands witnessed a spectacular comeback by Luso when Nathen Nel scored the equaliser before time, levelling the final score to 3-3.

The second team were looking to get the double over Alberton having already beaten them in the first round.

All was going according to plan when Albert Mothapo put Luso on the scoreboard.

Alberton posed no threat to Luso, allowing Michael Lume to generate the second goal before half-time.

The second half saw much of the same, relaxed football action.

Mothapo again opened the scoring in the half with his second and Luso’s third goal.

The game ended in a 3-0 win for Luso.

The teams travel to Robertsham this weekend to face Robertsham Football Club.
