Raptors bring home a collection of medals

The Raptors Wrestling Club wrestlers shone at the recent Central Gauteng Open Championships.

Several young wrestlers from the Primrose-based Raptors Wrestling Club recently showcased their skills at the Central Gauteng Open Championships.

The event saw some of the country’s best young wrestlers competing for top honours, which meant the team had their work cut out for them.

“Once again they did not miss a beat, and brought home nine medals,” said head coach Dewald de Wet proudly.

“We, as coaches, are very pleased with the team’s performance so far this year, and foresee an even greater medal haul in the near future.”

The club’s members are working hard to ensure they win several medals in the South African Youth Championships which will be held later this year.

• Michael Smith won a gold medal.

• Rico van der Westhuizen won a gold medal.

• Janick Kruger won a gold medal.

• Ian Willemse won a gold medal.

• Daniella de Wet won a gold medal.

• Tiaan Jansen van Rensburg won a gold medal.

• Shannon Jansen van Rensburg won a silver medal.

• Connor Bester won a bronze medal.

• Dewald de Wet won a bronze medal.
