“We had a lot of supporters and parents cheering our team on.

“Our young wrestlers encountered some really tough opponents during the tournament, but as usual, our well-trained athletes were up to the task and brought home no less than six medals,” said de Wet.

Results:

• Rico van der Westhuizen won a gold medal.

• Jason Russel won a gold medal.

• Wiandru van Rooyen won a gold medal.

• Sabian Wheeler won a silver medal.

• Shannon Jansen van Rensburg won a silver medal.

• Dewald de Wet won a bronze medal.

• Calan Wheeler came fourth in his division.

• Ian Willemse came fourth in his division.

• Timmy Carstens came fifth in his division.

• Daniella de Wet came seventh in her division.

“Our girls, Daniella and Shannon, deserve a special mention.

“They slugged it out in the boys’ division, and never took a step back against them, and for that, we are truly proud of them,” said de Wet.
