Raptors shine at Mufasa Challenge

Eight Raptors Wrestling Club wrestlers recently represented the club at the Mufasa Challenge Open Championships held in Fochville.

The Raptors Wrestling Club is a small club, found at the corner of Oak and Quince streets in Primrose.

The club, that prides itself on teaching its students about etiquette, self-control, concentration, hand-eye co-ordination and discipline in a fun and safe environment, had eight wrestlers compete in the Mufasa Challenge Open Championships held in Fochville, recently.

The team were supported at the tournament by manager on the day, Dulanja de Wet, and coaches Dewald de Wet and George Willemse.

The large tournament saw 160 entries vying for top honours, and all of the Raptors walked away with medals.

Results:

• Dewald de Wet (11) won a gold medal.

• Sabian Wheeler (10) won a silver medal.

• Ian Willemse (11) won a silver medal.

• Connor Birch (6) won a silver medal.

• Connor Bester (9) won a gold medal.

• Calan Wheeler (8) won a silver medal.

• Tanique Jansen van Rensburg (6) won a gold medal.

• Tiaan Jansen van Rensburg (4) won a gold medal.

De Wet was thrilled with the results and so proud of the team.

“The team tackled each and every match with valour, technique and the will to win, like only a Raptor can,” he said.
