Narrow defeat doesn’t get club down

The Elsburg Rugby Club continued their charge in the Kestrel League with an away match against the Balfour-based Buffels Rugby Club. The match, played last Saturday, was narrowly won by the home team.

The team knew that it would be a tough away game and gave it all they had on the field.

Leading the match throughout the first half, Elsburg dominated in the scrums and contested well for the ball.

However, this momentum did not carry the team to the end of the match and the home team was able to clinch the win with only a three-point difference.

The match’s final score was 29-32 to Buffels.

Though Elsburg did not win the match, they came off the field in high spirits singing the club’s anthem.

The players plan to take the lessons they learned in this match and implement them in their next match.

After a break over the long weekend, the club will host Vanderbijlpark Rugby Club in a home match at the Elspark Sports Complex, located on the corner of Heidelberg Road and Egret Street in Elspark, on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 4pm.

The club is hoping the home ground advantage will help them secure a victory. They invite all supporters, old players of the club and their families to come and enjoy the game.
