Successful bi-annual golf day benefits charities
The Safari Golf Club raised R400 000 for charities through their bi-annual charity golf day at the Germiston Golf Club.
The Safari Golf Club, a charitable social golf club founded in Kempton Park in 1978, held their bi-annual charity golf day at the Germiston Golf Club, recently.
The club and its 68 members managed to raise R400 000 through the event, matching their previous amount, which was handed over to two deserving charities.

The charities who benefited from the day were Little Eden, a registered non-profit organisation providing life-long care to 300 children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities and the Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre, a registered NPO providing care and skills development for traumatised children and youth in need, in the greater Johannesburg area.
Each charity was handed a cheque for R200 000.
“The same amount was handed to the same charities two years ago, so these two organisations have received R400 000 each, in the past two years,” club chairman Marthinus Jansen explained.
Other charities helped through the initiative, over the last 12 years, include Miles for Smiles, South African Guide Dogs Association and Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.

Jansen thanked all the event’s sponsors, with special thanks to Oberon Pharma and all the participants for their support.
“A special thank you goes to committee members André and Vicky van Heerden who steered the project,” he said.
