Tebbutt’s start the year on a high

Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy, in Lambton, kick-start the year with several outstanding achievements.

After ending 2017 on a high the Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy, in Lambton, has continued their winning ways in 2018.

Thirteen of the dojo’s members recently earned their Southern Gauteng NMA ISKA colours for their outstanding performance and 10 their Eastern Gauteng colours for kickboxing.

This was closely followed by a trip to Pretoria where nine of Tebbutt’s members competed.

“The tournament went very well,” said Kanchu Alex Tebbutt.

“I was pleasantly surprised with how well we did being that we do not focus on kickboxing as a discipline.

“These results remind me once again that as a dojo we can go anywhere and do anything and we will shine.”

Stephen Boyd was one of the members who competed at the tournament earning a second place.

“It was my first kickboxing tournament and I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next event,” he said.

Tebbutt proudly announced that two of his students, Tyron Stevens and Christina Pretorius will be travelling overseas in June to take part in the US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in Orlando, Florida, USA.

“We wish them all the best, and know they will bring home gold,” Tebbutt said proudly.

In between tournaments and training, 31 of the club’s members found the time to complete a level one first aid course.

“I am very proud of my students,” said Tebbutt.

The club is now preparing for their first grading of the year which will be held at the dojo on April 14.

“White to purple belts will be grading on the day, which promises to be great fun,” Tebbutt said.
