Primrose boy Gareth Heyns (26) is set to travel to Australia as part of South Africa’s national squad competing in the Commonwealth Games.

When the GCN last spoke to born-and-bred Primrose boy Gareth Heyns (26), who started playing hockey at the tender age of 12, he had just received his Springbok colours for the second time.

In the two years that have followed Heyns, who plays for the University of Johannesburg, has continued to play the sport he loves, and his dedication and passion has paid off as he was recently named as part of the national squad who will travel to Australia for the Commonwealth Games in April.
