Rain puts a damper on Germiston’s weekend

Weekend rain dampens Germiston City Cricket Club’s Easterns Cricket League fixtures.

Germiston City Cricket Club were hoping to continue their Easterns Cricket League campaign over the weekend, but the dark rain clouds overhead had other plans.

The club was set to play in the Sunday Executive League against Avion Cricket Club, however the pitch was never prepared, and their Sunday President’s League match was rained out before it even began.

The only team that made it onto the pitch was the Sunday Promotion League team, who faced KwaThema Cricket Club at the Germiston City Sports Club.

This was despite the pitch still being damp.

The visitors won the toss and sent the home team in to bat first.

Germiston was able to knock up 53 runs in 13 overs for the loss of one wicket before rain brought an abrupt end to this match as well.
