Football club in need of sponsors

Germiston City Football Club is searching for sponsorship.

Germiston City Football Club’s senior sides are in full pre-season training mode and ready to take on the upcoming season.

“The league starts the first weekend in March,” said chairperson Peter Oliver.

“We have a number of new players still trying out and we are slowly getting into a rhythm.”

The biggest problem facing the club at this stage of their preparations is finding sponsorship.

“We recently lost our sponsorship from a large vehicle dealership, and are now searching for new sponsorship, as some of the players come from the townships around Germiston and they need to travel to and from practices and games, as well as other running costs,” Oliver said.

“The money used to transport the youngsters comes from funds raised through sponsorship, and the shortfall comes from the coaches’ and club administrators’ own pockets.

“To successfully run a club like the Germiston City Football Club, which comprises three senior sides and several junior sides, we require a lot of money, which is raised mainly through sponsors and subscriptions.

“We appeal to all businesses in Germiston to help us to continue to uphold the Germiston name,” said Oliver.
