Diamonds shine at inter-high

Diamond Athletics Club members reign supreme at the 2018 inter-high.

Diamond Athletics Club athletes dominated at the recent inter-high event, with top club performers representing their respective schools well.

Tebogo Miya from Hoërskool Elsburg shattered the inter-high long jump record for u-18 boys, setting the new record at 6.97m from the previous record of 6.09m.

Miya came in first place in the 100m as well.

Kabelo Mampane from Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston took home the best track athlete trophy and best junior athlete trophy for his performances in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 200m sprints for u-15 boys.

Ndumiso Simelane from Germiston High School earned himself the best field athlete trophy for u-14 boys for setting a new long jump record for his age group at 5.67m from 5.60m, and for his performance in the 100m hurdles and 200m sprint, while fellow club member Jodine Beans of Vryburger High School came in first in the girl’s u-17 100m sprint.
