Luso dominate weekend fixtures

Mixed results for Luso Africa FC this week.

It was a wet Saturday when Luso Africa’s senior first and second teams continued their Top Eight Tournament campaign against Robertsham Football Club.

The match, which was the second in the tournament, was played at Luso’s home grounds, Hattingh Park, with the rumble of thunder overhead.

Though the first team walked away as the winners with a convincing 4-1 victory, they took time to get off the mark going down 1-0 to the visitors early in the match.

Beating back a tough Robertsham defence Roberto da Silva was able to score Luso’s first goal of the match, leaving the teams 1-1 heading into half-time.

The second half saw the home team come alive with goals from Clayton Botha, Jonathan Spiers and a second from da Silva, giving the team a convincing 4-1 win.

Luso’s second team was thrilled to get their first win in the tournament beating their Robertsham counterparts 2-1 with goals from Marco Correia and Mario Ferreira.

The teams will next face the Olympia Italian Football Club in an away match.
