Local cricket clubs Germiston City and the Elsburg Eagles squared off in a T20 match on the weekend.

Germiston’s local cricket clubs, Germiston City Cricket Club and Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club, continued their Easterns Cricket League campaign when they faced off in a Saturday Second League T20 match on the weekend.
The match was held at the Elsburg Eagles’ Main Oval in Dinwiddie, and the teams were in high spirits.
Germiston batted first after losing the toss, and knocked up a total of 139 with one wicket left in hand during their allotted 20 overs.
Willie Steyn was the Eagles’ top bowler, taking five wickets for only 18 runs in four overs.
The Eagles then took their turn at the crease but were unable to master the strong Germiston fielders and bowlers and were all out for only 58 runs, giving Germiston an 81-run victory
The home side’s top performing batsman was Leonard Magadza with 24 runs.
Germiston also faced Etwatwa Cricket Club in the Sunday President’s League, winning the match by 128 runs.
