Donations thrill young football players

Children from the Makause informal settlement are taught to play football by the Burning Stars Football Club.

The Burning Stars Football Club received a big surprise on Wednesday.

Lisa Imrie (who lives in Glasgow, Scotland but is originally from South Africa), Natalie and Tyra (12) Bakos, who are Boksburg residents, and Jenny and Frans Schneigansz (local residents), visited the children of the club to give them footballs, football kit and party packs.

The children were extremely excited to receive the gifts.

Coaches Sidwell Makgatho, Bongani Jeku and Killer Ncube said they have been running the club since about 2008.

They teach children from u-11 to u-19 from the Makause informal settlement and have about 50 players.

The team practises at the Primrose Sports Complex.

The club is looking for any sponsorship to help them continue teaching the children.

To assist in any way, contact Ncube on 072 976 9906.
