Germiston SAPS Sports Club honours members

The Germiston SAPS Sports Club held a special awards ceremony on Wednesday to honour members for their amazing sporting achievements over the years.

For the Germiston SAPS Sports Club sport is a vital part of life.

The proud club is not only home to officers from Germiston, but from all across the Ekurhuleni West cluster and works hard to promote sport among the officers.

To honour the achievements of its members over the years the club held a special awards ceremony at the Germiston Police Station on Wednesday.

Club chairperson Justus Geustyn opened the event by thanking not only the members for their continued efforts but the station commanders for their understanding and support.

“Because it up to you to say yes when we need time off to compete in our sporting events, whatever they may be,” he said.

Members were honoured for their achievements in several different sports after the club asked the officers to nominate themselves.

“As with other awards it was difficult to get nominations because it seems that officers do not like to promote themselves or boast about their achievements,” said Geustyn.
