For the love of rugby

Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club’s fun day was well supported by the community.

Fun was the order of the day at Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club’s fun day held at the Elspark Sports Grounds last Saturday.

The fun day was aimed at promoting the club and making it known to the community.

“We are a family and we want the community we are based in to get to know us and be a part of us,” said the club’s chairperson, Tyron Smuts.

“Through the event, we also hope to attract more players to come join the club as we head for the Valke league starting on July 29.”

Although the league hasn’t started yet the club is already in full practice mode practising every Monday and Wednesday at the Elspark Sports Grounds, from 6pm to 7pm.

“We are a junior club and our age groups for our teams range from u-6 to u-19,” said Smuts.

“We are hoping for a successful league this year.”

Chantè ‘Tayebrink’ Combrink, Tertius and Charl van Tonder were among the local singers entertaining the audience at the day.

It was a fun day for both young and old with lots of entertainment including various food stalls, a mechanical bull ride, four-wheeler rides, paintball and jumping castles.

“The day was a success and it proved to be lots of fun,” said Smuts.

“Thank you to everyone for their support and being a part of the wonderful day.

“Thank you to the singers who offered their services free of charge.”
