Great football action keeps Luso on top

Luso Africa FC’s teams continue to make their mark.

Luso Africa’s FC teams fared well in the latest round of fixtures.

The women were in Germiston on Saturday where they took of Tigers FC at Dukathole Stadium in the SAFA Ekurhuleni Women’s League.

The Luso girls started off well with Bongi Radebe opening the scoring.

Chanel Fisher added a second shortly after and Nadine Jason made it three before the break.

The Luso team controlled the game throughout and Savannah Fraga and Radebe added two more before Tigers FC got a consolation goal through a penalty kick.

A 5-1 scoreboard and the women continue their 100 per cent record.

The women are set to face second-placed Etwatwa FC this Saturday at home.

In the SAB League the men travelled to Vosloorus where they were up against Vosloorus Arsenal in the last game of the season.

It was a must win game as the team look to win the league and book a place in the play-offs.

They did not disappoint winning the match 9-1.

The team now awaits the outcome of appeals from previous matches to find out where they will finish. They are currently sitting three points off the leaders and the outcome of the appeals may have a significant impact on the title.

Luso’s third team drew 1-1 against Benoni Northerns at home.

The Luso team went 1-0 up and continued to have the best chances throughout the game but could not convert, and this proved to be costly as it kept Northerns in the game.

Northerns eventually got their goal and help on for the point.

In the ELFA Super League, the first and second teams went up against Robertsham.

Luso’s second team started off the stronger of the two teams and Michael Lume got a well-deserved opening goal.

The team then seemed to relax a little and allow Robertsham back into the match.

The game opened up and the teams appeared to match each other in key areas.

It was 1-0 at the break and Luso appeared to have things under control.

This continued through much of the second half, however, Robertsham got an equaliser in the last minute of the game and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

It was a dominant performance from the Luso first team who are currently the team with the best form in the league.

The team recently went through a regrouping after losing a couple players, but if anything it just spurred them on.

Playing the best football of their season they never looked like they were going to lose this game.

Despite Robertsham scoring early on, Luso replied almost immediately with a goal from Yannick Beyouma.

Luso settled and continued to work hard for each other and reward came through Roberto Da Silva who put the team in front.

The score stayed 2-1 until the break.

The second half saw much of the same, a hard physical game with some strong tackles and lots of hard running from both teams.

Luso went down to 10 men with about 25 minutes to play but the team managed to work that little bit extra and hold out for yet another three points.

The team take on Zwide FC at 3.30pm on Saturday at home.
