Fun day to promote rugby

Don’t miss the Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club fun day this Saturday.

The Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club, under the leadership of club chairman Tyron Smuts, is hosting a fun day for all age groups this Saturday.

With their “Come Play Rugby” pre-season campaign, the rugby club aims to create a wider community awareness of the local rugby club.

The goal is to attract more players of all ages to join and enjoy playing rugby in the Valke league.

The league kicks off on July 29 and practice is already well underway, every Monday and Wednesday, at the Elspark Sports Grounds, from 6pm to 7pm.

The junior rugby club caters for teams from u-6 to u-19.

“The club’s coaches are “Boksmart” and IRB Level 1 skilled and they enjoy coaching the children.

“The Eagles rugby players, coaches and management are a rugby family.

“The children enjoy the practices and games and parents are urged to encourage their children to be part of it,” said Smuts.

The fun day on Saturday will see great entertainment by local singers and the club thanks them for offering their services free of charge for the love of rugby.

There will be lots of other entertainment for the whole family with various food stalls, flea market stalls, jumping castles, mechanical bull rides, four-wheeler rides, a racing car display, a Volkswagen Classics display, paintball and a Mr and Miss Children’s “Eagles” competition.

The gates will open at 9am until late and no alcohol is allowed to be brought onto the premises.

A cash bar, however, will be available.

An entry fee for parking on the club grounds, situated in Egret Street, Elspark, will be charged.
