Support local karate club

Shorin-Kempo Kaikan Karate Club members are training hard in preparation for a tournament that will see talent from other African countries participating.

Katlehong’s Shorin-Kempo Kaikan Karate Club will be represented at the AFCKO-African Full Contact Karate tournament to be held at the Thokoza Auditorium Hall on May 27.

“Different full contact federations are expected to attend the annual tournament,” said the head coach at Shorin-Kempo Kaikan Karate Club, Sensei Thulane Sibisi.

“The prestigious event will also showcase the talent we have in our country and other African countries.”

Sibisi said they are expecting karatekas from as far as Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Lesotho, Ghana and Zambia, among others.

“Last year, karatekas from KwaZulu-Natal dominated the event with good techniques,” said Sibisi.

“We are also expecting great results from our karatekas, not only from our club but from South Africa as a whole.

“More people are welcome to take part in the tournament and we also hope to see the Ekurhuleni community cheering on our best fighters.”

There is no entrance fee, said Sibisi.
