Luso Africa FC continues their Super League campaign

Luso Africa FC’s senior sides continue their Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League campaign with one loss and one win.

The Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League continues and Luso Africa FC is giving their all.

The club recently took on Alberton Football Club and Olympia Italian Football Club in consecutive matches.

The club’s match against Alberton, which was played at Alberton’s home grounds, saw the first team narrowly beaten 2-1.

Though the team was not playing to their usual standard, they managed to hold the home side to a goalless draw heading into half-time.

However, still unable to take control of the game and due to some bad defending, Luso relinquished their first goal, allowing Alberton to take the lead.

Moments later Nathen Nel was able to score an equaliser, before Alberton scored the winning goal from a penalty shot.

Luso’s reserve team drew their match 1-1.

The reserve team remains undefeated in the Super League and they continued to show a dominant performance in their match against Alberton.

Both teams gave it their all, not giving an inch.

Alberton was the first to put some points on the board, scoring through a penalty heading into half-time.

After the break Luso was able to equalise, with a goal from Nuno De Sousa; but, sadly, the team was unable to pip another past the Alberton goalkeeper and the match ended in a draw.

The club next faced Olympia, at their home grounds in Bedfordview.

The first team dominated their match, winning 4-1.

Luso came out strong from the onset, determined to right the wrong experienced in their match against Alberton.

Two early goals from Marco Cabeleira and Michael Edwards set the tone for the game, giving Luso the boost they needed to keep up a dominant performance from start to finish.

Despite an impressive midfield defence, Olympia was able to get in a goal before Fulvio Pereira and Marco Cabeleira scored the third and fourth goals of the match.

Luso’s reserve team were not as lucky, suffering their first defeat of the season and bringing an end to their unbeaten run.

The team were in poor form from start to finish, allowing Olympia to score two goals within the first 10 minutes.

The home team maintained control of the game throughout, adding another two goals to the scoreboard before the final whistle blew.

Nuno De Sousa scored the only goal for Luso.

Other results:

  • Luso’s division two veterans were named cup winners after they won their cup final match against Edenvale Football Club 7-3.
  • Luso’s SAB team narrowly lost their match against Highlands Park 3-2.
